My last cruise was on the Carnival Freedom. It was eight days of food, wine and tropical bliss.
The Freedom recently underwent a massive $70 million makeover that added a variety of dining, bar and entertainment options that are part of the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement program, as well as the new Dr. Seuss Bookville family reading venue and Camp Ocean children’s program.
When asked if my family and I would like to participate in a Carnival YouTube video series “Cruising Chronicles” following average, everyday bloggers like myself I said “As long as you don’t want to film me in my bathing suit.” Just kidding, not kidding.
I was so excited to have a professional camera crew there filming different aspects of our cruise vacation and piecing them together to make this memory for us. It truly captures the essence of our style of cruising. We were also given a handheld camera and asked to take raw footage of our own, some of which was used in the video below.
On a side note, the crew that filmed our webisode also shot the TLC show “Miami Ink”. How cool is that?! You may have noticed cameos of the other bloggers showcased in this new series…Caroline Murphy, Carrie McLaren, and the husband-and-wife team of Stefanie and Rick Fauquet.
Here links to and summaries of their video experiences:
Murphy, who sailed with her two young daughters Isabella and Cecilia and adult cousin Josefina, offered feedback on the new Seuss at Sea program, including the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with Cat and the Hat and Friends. Much to the delight of her children, Murphy was also selected as a participant in Hasbro, The Game Show, featuring larger-than-life adaptations of the line’s iconic games.
McLaren, sailed with her husband Rob and their daughters, Maggie and Molly, who spent some time in Camp Ocean, the line’s a new marine-themed children’s program featuring more than 200 educational activities inspired by the wonders of the sea. McLaren’s daughter Molly also marked her fourth birthday during the cruise complete with a delicious cake and dining room celebration. McLaren and her husband also enjoyed some “me” time at the Serenity adults-only retreat.
The Fauquets and their daughter Paris enjoyed a variety of experiences both on and off the ship. In addition to snorkeling in crystal-clear Caribbean waters, the Fauquets took in a family-friendly comedy performance at the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez and hit the links for a round of miniature golf up in the fresh sea air. Rick even got up on stage as part of SuperStar Live – a karaoke activity with a four-piece band and backup singers.
I hope you’ll go check out their videos on Carnival’s YouTube Channel to see how different families cruise in their own unique way. And I really hope these videos inspire you to take your own Carnival Cruise vacation. There’s really nothing else like it!

Special thanks goes out to Carnival for hosting me and my family on the Carnival Freedom. I was not required to write this post and all opinions are my own.
