Southern Grilled Ham and Ooey Gooey Pimento Cheese Sandwich

I’ve partnered with Pepperidge Farm, Hillshire Farm, Hellmans and Walmart on this story and as such I have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser.  All opinions are mine alone. #SandwichWithTheBest #CollectiveBias

Ooey Gooey Southern Grilled Ham and Pimento Cheese Sandwich

Pimento cheese…the caviar of the South

The classic ham and cheese sandwich gets a little more love this summer when a few simple ingredients are added. And by simple I mean this lunch time favorite has only six ingredients.

Easy peasy.

I sourced everything I needed for lunch at my local Walmart.

Pepperidge Farm® bread is always double bagged for freshness. When you pop open that inner lining and all that carbolicious goodness hits your nose. Mmmm….magical!

So what exactly are the extras we’ll be mixing in with our ham and cheese sammie to make it classically Southern? Hellmann’s® Real mayonnaise, pimento, sharp cheddar cheese and onion and chive cream cheese.

First we need to make the pimento cheese. This is the easy part. Chop your pimentos.

In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, Hellmann’s® Real mayonnaise, chopped pimentos and onion and chive cream cheese.

To assemble your Southern Grilled Ham and Ooey Gooey Pimento Cheese Sandwich you are going to want to spread a generous amount of pimento cheese on one half of your bread. On a second slice of bread add three slices of Hillshire Farm® Thin Sliced Honey Ham lunch meat. It’s slow roasted for hours which gives it superior flavor. Stack those two halves together.

Slather the exterior of one side of your sandwich with more Hellmann’s® Real mayonnaise and place in a frying pan with the heat set to medium. Cover with the frying pan lid and let the heat do its magic.

When one side of the sandwich is nice and toasty, slather the other side of the sandwich with mayo and flip. You know you’ve got the perfect grilled cheese when both sides of your bread are crisp.

Remove your sandwich from the frying pan, slice and serve!

I like using a more hearty bread for making grilled cheese sandwiches so that it holds up to the heat and I love all of the options that Pepperidge Farm® offers.
