quesito | puff pastry | sweetened cream cheese | guava sauce (NEW)

The standouts for me among the items we previewed were the Korean-style barbecue beef  and the Grilled Beef Skewer. I wasn’t able to sample the lobster roll or scallop due to a shellfish allergy but I did try the truffled celery root purée the scallop was served on and that was superb.

I had completely devoured a plate of Loaded Greek Nachos before Marianne Hunnel, the Culinary Program Manager at Walt Disney World,  announced that they were vegetarian. I would have never known.

All of the other savory items were pretty solid. The standout dessert for me was the Quesito. I had asked for the guava sauce on the side thinking it would be too overpowering but it was not. I think guests are going to flip for the peanut butter and white chocolate mousse. I was disappointed in the Oiko’s Greek yogurt vanilla cake. It was way too dense.

MARKETPLACE SIPS

We also had the opportunity to sample some of the marketplace sips. I especially liked the Conundrum White Blend 25th Anniversary and the Mohua Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

3 Daughters Bimini Twist IPA

3 Daughters Brewing brought one of their craft beers along…Bimini Twist IPA. This was not an aggressive IPA so if you’ve been wanting to dip your toes into IPA’s, give this one a try. It had hints of honey on the nose but it was light on the pallet and not to hoppy.

Taste your way around the world for two full months this year. The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival runs from September 14th to November 14th, 2016 and offers sips and bites from 30 global market places. Cheers!

Special thanks to the Walt Disney World Resort for hosting me at this event. As always, all opinions are my own.
