On Day 4 of the IPW Orlando Travel Conference Universal Orlando Resort gave Walt Disney World Resort a run for the money during their private party evening event. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 before proceeding.
Choose Chicago Press Conference
Day 4, the final day of IPW 2015, started out with a presentation by the city of Chicago.
In 2014 the city of Chicago joined the ranks of the top three most visited U.S. cities with over 50 million visitors. The other two U.S. cities that hold that designation are New York and Orlando.
China is Chicago’s #1 market for inbound international travel and last month the city launched the #ChicgoEPIC ad campaign.
New Orleans CVB Press Conference
After Chicago wrapped, everyone was drawn outside the meeting room to listen to the sounds of a New Orleans Jazz Band which morped into a traditional Second Line to move everyone back into the meeting space for the presentation…and WHAT a PRESENTATION it WAS!
President and CEO of the New Orlens Convention and Visitors Bureau literally oozed New Orleans Charm. He was so influential that one of the journalists in the audience asked him if he would write his New Orleans piece for him.
New Orleans will play host to the 2016 IPW Travel Conference and let me tell you…it’s gonna be a PARTY!
Experince Kissimmee Luncheon
Experience Kissimmee hosted our lunch on the final day and partnerd with a very familiar neighbor…the Walt Disney World Resort. I only have one snap from the performance because I was streaming live on Periscope (You can follow Amanda Tinney on Periscope here) but there was an epic finale involving a stage full of Disney character performers.
If you’re into Disney be sure and check out my other website Disney Every Day.
IPW Epic Finale at Universal Orlando
Universal Studios Orlando shut it’s doors to the public on the final night of IPW and opened it up just for IPW delegates. I plan on writing a separate post on what happened that night but for now a few teaser photos…
Dozens of charcters lined the red carpet entryway.
We meandered through the Simpsons area of the park on our way to Diagon Alley. Of course, I had to stop for a Flaming Moe.
Then it was time to make a B-Line for London Kings Cross and the entrance to Diagon Alley.
I discovered my love for the dark and chocolatey Wizards Brew and contemplated how good it would be as a beer float if I plopped a scoop of Salted Caramel Ice Cream from Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour into it.
We ended the evening on a high note just outside Diagon Alley with an epic end-of-the-evening fireworks show and dessert party. As an Orlando local and Potterhead it’s hard to even wrap my head around the fact that I actually attended this event. It made me want to run out and purchase an annual pass.
The 2016 IPW Travel Trade Show will be held in New Orleans. It won’t be back in Orlando until 2022 and if I’m still writing about travel then, I plan on being there to watch it all unfold again. If you have a career in travel and are interested in attending IPW visit them online at www.IPW.com
