How to Make Seven Figures from a 15 Minute Meeting via Gary Vaynerchuk

Serendipity is where all the magic is. – Gary Vaynerchuk

Everything you are doing now is giving you a blueprint upon which to execute against in the future. What the hell does that even mean? For me it translates to seize every opportunity. You may not see the big picture when you are down in the trenches, but the vision will appear crystal clear in hindsight.

All of these kernels of knowledge gleaned from Episode 100 of the #AskGaryVee Show and the 99 episodes that preceded it.

Don’t know who Gary is? He’s an¬†entrepreneur, investor, author, public speaker, and internet personality. ( He not only talks the talk, he walks the walk and has what he would call “the chops” for business.

Here’s his story…

Gary agrees, via an email pitch, to a 15 minute “pay it forward” meeting with a fella named Chris Dessi…because…you never know…

This meeting leads Dessi to become one of the early employees at Buddy Media which was a company owned by a fella named Mike Lazerow.

Consequently Buddy Media grants free office space, in their conference room, to Gary’s company Vayner Media.

This leads to Gary giving a quote to Mike Lazerow of Buddy Media. Gary is then granted stock warrants.

Buddy Media sells for $689 million dollars to Salesforce.

Gary’s stock warrants go along with that sale and net him SEVEN FIGURES!

Now here’s my story…

I’m standing in line at a food and wine event where I bump into a travel vlogger whose videos I’ve watched. He invites me out to do some filming the next day and we become friends.

Gary Vaynerchuk is at said food and wine event and agrees to film an episode of my buddy’s travel show. I see the video and start watching Gary’s vlog Wine Library TV and become a fan.

Gary releases his book “Crush It”. I read it and as a result of ideas I get from the book start a website.

24 months later I sell said website for five figures.

You’re right Gary…serendipity IS where all the magic lives!
