The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa has added a new foodie feature that’s impossible to resist! Chef Marc Murphy has opened the “Grey Salt” eatery at the gambling venue where his European experiences have culminated in an epicurean dream. Seating for 250 guests might turn out to be too conservative as the restaurant is sure to become a favorite in the Tampa Bay area.

Having spent his childhood in Europe, Murphy spreads out before us a vast assortment of cuisine… fresh fish, flatbreads, pastas of all sorts, and rotisserie meats prepared in the French and Italian style. A world-class bar compliments the dining experience along with a full Mediterranean wine assortment. Local beers are on the menu, and the wine is available by the glass, carafe, or by the bottle.

Grey Salt… odd name, but Marc Murphy explained his choice:

“I grew up throughout Europe – predominantly in Southern France and Italy where grey salt is a staple,” says Murphy. “When I was thinking about the menu for this restaurant, I decided to incorporate the finishing salt into some of my dishes to serve as a reflection of my childhood and when it came to think of a name, I realized that the words, Grey Salt, felt very in tune with my concept to open something that is tranquil, soothing and calm.”

Murphy has more than 20 years of working experience in the restaurant business, in some of the world’s best kitchens, including Le Miraville in Paris, and Le Cirque in New York. At one time he was the Executive Chef at Cellar in the Sky at the World Trade Center. You may know him better as a judge on The Food Network’s highest rated hit show, CHOPPED as well as through his appearances on IRON CHEF AMERICA, THE BEST THING I EVER ATE, THE RACHAEL RAY SHOW and THE TODAY SHOW among others.

The restaurant itself radiates a Med design that is soothing and warm, tending to focus your appetite on the food offered. Surroundings are not distractive, something that I like because I am there for the food and drink. The ambiance is fitting for the dining experience.

The restaurant is open seven days a week with lunch offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is located in Tampa, Florida off of I-4 at North Orient Road and Hillsborough Avenue, between I-75 and I-275, about 10 minutes east of downtown Tampa.
