The spa at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando Resort is a virtual vegan paradise. This week my girlfriend Carise and I spent a glorious afternoon inside the luxurious spa living our best lives. The pampering was real. Relaxation mode unparalleled.
The purpose of our visit was to experience the spa’s brand new salt therapy chamber, but our visit included so much more and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Girls Vegan Spa Day – A Waldorf Astoria Orlando Resort Spa Review
On the agenda for the day was a session in the halotherapy room, a CBD oil massage, vegan lunch in the Tranquility Lounge, steam room session, hot tub session and outdoor pool time.
We arrived at the resort around 9:30 a.m. Valet is complementary at the Waldorf when receiving spa services, just be sure to get your ticket validated.
We were welcomed warmly by the spa director Lindsay Neeley, who also happens to be vegan and whisked away into the ladies lounge to change into our robes and slippers.
My first treatment of the day was a luxurious fifty minute ($195) CBD Oil Massage. This massage uses full spectrum CBD hemp oil blended with ancient Korean herbs. No, for those of you wondering, there is no THC in the product used. The treatment is meant to ease muscles, relieve joint aches, reduce inflammation, and soothe irritated skin.
The Waldorf Astoria spa sources their CBD Facial & Massage Oil from a company called Cannabliss. These products are 100% vegan. They are also certified cruelty free by PETA and Leaping Bunny certified as well, guaranteeing that no animal testing occurred at any stage of product development.
Additionally, the company donates 1% of their sales to non-profit environmental causes and uses 100% wind power to create their skincare. Using renewable energy allows them to manufacture without releasing carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the air.
After my massage it was time to join Carise in the Himalayan Salt Therapy Room.
Himalayan Salt Therapy at the Waldorf Astoria Spa
The Waldorf Astoria Orlando Spa is the first full-service resort spa in the state of Florida to have its own Himalayan Salt Room and only one of seven spas in the United States.
Almost every inch of the room is covered in pink Himalayan salt. The walls are fashioned out of large salt bricks and even the floor is covered in pink salt rocks.
Himalayan Salt Therapy, which dates back hundreds of years to Eastern Europe, is known to provide relief from asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinusitis, colds, ear infections, cystic fibrosis, COPD and even jet lag.
Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea have also shown improvement from dry salt therapy.
Halotherapy is available in both thirty and sixty ($45/$90) minute sessions. During the session we lounged in recliners while listening to tranquil music play over built in speakers.
Salt particles are pumped into the chamber via a small fan. After our thirty minute session we were both covered in a fine mist of salt.
Inhaling fine salt particles, which act like an expectorant, speeds mucus clearance and helps to improve respiratory function, while simultaneously eliminating bacteria and soothing the lungs.
Vegan Lunch at the Waldorf Astoria Spa
Carise and I transitioned into the Tranquility Room after our Himalayan Salt Therapy where a table for two had been set with a full plant-based spread.
We noshed on hummus and power bowls and finished off our meal with the sweetest little dessert.
