Earlier this month Carnival Cruise Line’s newest vessel the Carnival Vista made its way from Europe to the United States (specifically NYC) and in grand “fun ship” fashion there was a massive party held to welcome her home.
Embarkation began early in the morning and passengers included media, celebrities, executives and hundreds of military families who were about to have the time of their lives. More on that in a bit.
When I stepped foot back on Carnival Vista it really felt as if “I” were coming home. My daughter and I spent eleven days on Vista over the summer and she truly was our home away from home during that time, but instead of seeing the blue waters of the Caribbean we had a stunning view of the New York City skyline this time.
As this event was a mix of work and play, Bloody Marys from the BlueIguana Tequila Bar were raised in celebration of Carnival Vista’s arrival stateside.
After a lunch feast of hand cut french fries and burgers from Guy’s Burger Joint we headed into the Liquid Lounge for a private concert by country music sensation Carrie Underwood!
Earlier in 2016 Carrie teamed up with Carnival Cruise Line and Operation Homefront to raise funds which help military families with “relief, resiliency and recurring support”. This Welcome Home celebration was capped off with an invite-only concert for military members and their families with the goal of celebrating “Honor, Family & Fun” and Carrie left it all out on the table during her live hour long set.
Immediately following the concert we headed out onto the Lido Deck to hear from Carnival President Christine Duffy as she headed up the official Naming Ceremony and pronounced Miss USA, Deshauna Barber (who has also served in the military), as Carnival Vista’s official Godmother.
It was fun to see Cathy Lee Gifford watch the festivities from the upper deck as she was the Godmother to of a couple Carnival Cruise ships herself. And her GIFFT Pinot Noir Rosé served on the ship is delightful as well…but I digress.
What do you do after festivities like these?
Head on over to the RedFrog Pub & Brewery Obvi! I had to get my hands on a pint of ThirstyFrog Port Hoppin’ IPA which is brewed and served ONLY on Carnival Vista.
The party continued on and spilled out into the Alchemy Bar where we ordered cocktails just before dinner.
The entire experience concluded with a full dinner service in the Horizons dining room.
I LURVE the food on Carnival Vista!
And with a full belly and heart I headed back to my stateroom for the night.
Carnival Vista arrived in Miami this week to kick off a year-round schedule of six and eight day cruises to the Caribbean. Special thanks goes out to Carnival for hosting me at this event. I was not compensated to write this post and all opinions are my own.
