I’m about as Southern as you can get…and I’m married to a cowboy. So when I was presented with the opportunity to check out American Q at the B Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World, it didn’t take much convincing.
American Q is a mixture of Brazilian Churrascaria meets American Smokehouse with a sprinkling of hipster cocktail bar mixed in for good measure. The center piece of the restaurant is the shiny red 1951 Ford F150 flatbead pickup truck which houses the all-you-care-to-eat “Flatbead Buffet”
Those who have dined with me before know that I am not much on buffets. When I go out for a dining experience I like to have my meal prepared and brought to the table. The buffet here is just one aspect of dinner service. We tried so many amazing things that left me wanting to book a second reservation to sample more.
As with other buffets. You are NOT going to leave here hungry if you know what I mean…
WHATS ON THE MENU?
I started my dinner off at American Q with a refreshing martini. I am definitely going to try and recreate this one at home.
CUCUMBER LIME MARTINI
Grey Goose vodka | elderflower liqueur | muddled cucumber | thyme | lime
My only other experience at American Q was a stop in for a quick nightcap with one of my girlfriends when we stayed at the B Resort during a runDisney race weekend. I knew that the drinks here were tasty. That night I ordered a Moscow Mule to end my day and she ordered a Cherry Maple Manhattan which came with a slice of candied bacon in it. After one bite of her bacon I began to pout until the bartender offered me up a piece.
Thankfully this garnish is actually a bar snack that can be ordered any night of the week. This bacon is so famous that the B Resort & Spa is actually handing out the “Swine Candy” to unsuspecting guests in the lobby and dubbing the fete “Random Acts of Bacon”. Well played B Resort…well played.

As I mentioned earlier, American Q has a pretty killer bar and lounge space. The full menu is available here so if you want a different atmosphere asked to be seated in the lounge.
The small bites at American Q are inventive. Another favorite of the night were these house made tater tots!

And my husband (born and raised in Central Florida) isn’t one to shy away from gator.
roasted tomatoes | peppers | okra
At this point in the meal I was ready to try another cocktail off the bar menu. I wanted to love this drink served in a mason jar, but the smoked salt rim reminded me too much of Mezcal even though the drink is vodka based. Tequila and I kind of butt heads. If you love tequila give this one a try. Our server was very gracious and after I took a sip she switched this drink out for me and I went back to another one of those beautiful Cucumber Lime Martinis.
Hangar 1 vodka | lemon | lime | elderflower liqueur | chipotle sauce | golden ale | smoked salt rim
After sampling all of the delectable starters it was time to move on to the entrees. I ordered the flatbead buffet. I know what you’re thinking here. But Amanda, you just said you like table service. Well yes. The buffet comes with table-side meat carvings from the restaurant’s smokehouse.
My favorite meat of the night ended up being the chorizo saussage. Each table is presented with a selection of sauces to go along with their carved meats. The Mango Heat was the top contender in this bunch.
My husband and I also added on a side of ribs…because how could we not? I usually go for baby backs and not St. Louis style but good gravy these ribs were so tender and didn’t take much coaxing to get them off the bone.
ST. LOUIS SPARE RIBS
6 hour smoked spare ribs | sweet Kansas City BBQ sauce | house slaw | garlic Texas toast
It wouldn’t be a proper BBQ dinner without cornbread right? This one is served warm in the skillet with a side of honey butter and jalapeno butter.

The desserts at American Q are definitely shareable so don’t skip out on them. I want to come back and try the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Croissant Bread Pudding sometime soon.
KEY LIME PIE
key lime custard | graham cracker crust | meringue
graham crackers | flourless chocolate cake | toasted marshmallow
Big shout out to Sous Chef John Mercado for stopping by our table throughout the night to talk about preparations and check on how we were enjoying our meal. He’s single ladies. So if you’re looking for a man who can bring home the bacon and candy it for you, John is your guy.

I was hosted at this dinner as a guest of the B Resort and Spa. I was not required to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.
